Rising from the Swedish underground, Grand Theft Culture’s explosive live shows and outstanding blend of rock n’ roll and electronic music caught the attention of world famous DJ/Producer Skrillex. He officially praised the group and posted their cover version of the song “Cinema” on his Facebook page, creating an online buzz throughout the world.

Grand Theft Culture is fronted by singer and guitar-wonder-child Michel Santunione, famous for his work in musicals such as Queen’s ”We Will Rock You”, “Rock of Ages” and for touring the world with some of the biggest rock acts coming out of Scandinavia. The rhythm section consists of Markus Hjalsten, a powerhouse drummer who is well known for his use of a Cymbal-Helmet© and his bombastic playing and Johannes Sandberg on bass, who brings a heavy groove to the sound through his energetic style and remarkable use of distorted slapping. The DJ, Erik Johansson, is the fourth member of the group, playing all the electronic samples live with a Launchpad through an amplifier to capture the organic sound on stage. Their first single “Down the Line” encompasses the spirit of Grand Theft Culture and their exceptional mix of the electronic and the organic.

In early 2014, Grand Theft Culture left their hometown Stockholm for the entertainment capital of the world, Los Angeles, to release their debut eponymous EP, which created a local buzz in the Hollywood area, and got a strong responds back in Sweden where the single “Down the Line” was picked up by Sweden’s biggest rock radio station Bandit Rock, and was charting No 1 on their most wanted list for over 4 consecutive weeks, earning them a honoring nomination as Breakthrough of the Year on the annual Bandit Rock Awards.

In 2015 the band got picked up by booking agency Live Nation and Swedish record label Gain/Sony Music with whom they’ve released their first singel “Spinning” of their upcoming EP on October 16. 

During the fall of 2015 the band are going out on tour and begins with nothing less then playing together with the legendary KISS on a 4 day cruise ship going out from Miami, USA and are heading for Jamaica. ( The rest of the fall will be spent, in a bit colder environment, touring Sweden during November/December together with swedish rock icons Hardcore Superstar.
